Market day in Marciac on a late October day. This pretty small town six minutes to the east of L'Hermitage is best known for its Jazz Festival which is held during the first two weeks of August. Dating back to the 13th century, the picturesque square is surrounded by arched walkways which are bordered with shops, restaurants and cafés.
If you travel just a few miles south of Marciac you will come to Tillac, a tiny medieval gem which features an arcaded street of partially timbered buildings.  A short drive to the west is Bassoues, a bastide founded in 1295.
